Previz stills 01

Hey.

I thought it could be interresting to see some of the stills from the previz. Now remember that this is very much still in the process of being made. The whole edit could and probably should be changed later on. For now it gives a little hint of where the start of the movie will go.



I like to work with the previz more than storyboarding. Both have their pro's and con's, but for me I feel more comfortably with 3d. Having the camera, which later on in the production can be used, and playing with framing - getting inspiration for the set-design and the character. Anyways im not very good at drawing...

Cloth setup.

Hi.

The setup for the cloth is slowly moving forward. Here is a screenshot of some of the cloth simulated in a test-pose. theres still some missing part like the sweater and the pocket in the the pants. Those to two are gonna be beasts to get right!



The pocket need to contain the hand. Im considering to scale down the hand and reshaping it a bit, making it more simple, for some better results of the pants silhouette.

For the Sweater I want it to hang loose one or two places around the belt. Thats gonna take some testing too!

All is done with maya nCloth.

John face update

Heres a rendertest of the hair of John. Its maya hair - modelled with a nurbs surface, whereoff the controlcurvers are extracted.

First character render

Heres the first character render test of the main character John. Its a modelled pose, which for now works as a reference for the rigging of him.


Rendered in Mental ray, together with the puppet hair/fur shaders.
